Dolomite Works Together with New Life Medical to Attack Obesity
Las Vegas’ Dolomite Enterprises, the local leader for business computer care, management, and custom software has entered into an agreement to design and provide New Life Medical Group to a web based software system for New Life’s, “Let’s Play” program for overweight children between the age of 5 and 17. An age group where little has been addressed in regards to nutrition and exercise and even less is known about the long term benefits of such a program. The Let’s Play Program uses Patient Specific Investigative Analysis (PSIA) to design an affective, exciting and incentivized nutrition and exercise program for children. The PSIA system involves in-depth blood analysis, height to weight, hip to weight, BMI and other factors to develop a medically supervised, interactive, nutrition and exercise plan.
The American Academy of Pediatrics, which represents American pediatricians, points out that obesity isn't simply defined by a child's weight, but rather by something called "body mass index" (or BMI), a mathematical formula that takes into account both the child's weight and height. The increasing percentage of children suffering from obesity has put children at risk for complications of obesity both in childhood and adult life. A child who is overweight has a greater chance of becoming an overweight adult. A teen with "baby" fat has a 75 percent-plus chance of becoming overweight, putting them at high risk for diabetes, heart problems, cancer, high blood pressure and other serious diseases.
Let’s Play uses a point system to track kids participation and rewards them for completing the custom designed nutritional guideline and exercise program. The kids will be assigned a coach (trained clinician or medical personnel) and teammate (parent or friend) to help keep them on track. The kids will be rewarded for meeting their goals with hundreds of thousands of gifts donated by national and local businesses. Prizes include sporting goods, athletic apparel, toys, tickets to sporting events and vacations, among other prizes.
“We are very excited to get this program launched”, said Stephen White founder of New Life Medical Group and the Let’s Play Program. “Obesity in children is a real problem and we plan to use our program not only to benefit kids with immediate and obvious health problems today but by tracking progress and information over time we hope to provide the healthcare and medical industries accurate information in regards to the metabolism and true nutritional requirements of children.”
Dolomites web-based patient portal will allow the kids, teammates, coaches and doctors to input information, track points, train kids and show results. The prototype will be completed in approximately 30 days with the initial trial version due for release in 45 days. Nutritional information will outline a diet (which the kids are rewarded with points for maintaining), animated graphics will detail how exercises are performed, and the points system will incentivize kids to stay on track. Coaches and teammates will input information and progress will be tracked.
For more information contact Matthew Hutchings at Dolomite Enterprises at 1-866-575-3690.

Win Your Way to the Winter Games
The 2010 Winter Olympics will be held in Vancouver, Canada. That’s not the special part, though. How would you like to see the USA take on the rest of the world for free? Microsoft is giving away a chance for you to go to the games. If you are adamant about blogging don’t miss out on this great opportunity.
The gist of the rules are: a 250 word blog about why you should get to go to the Games, you must be a legal resident of the United States, 18 years of age or older. That’s all. Full details can be found at https://www.officewintergames.com/prizes.aspx. So for all you blogger fanatics, give it your best shot and you might be on your way to the Winter Olympics.
Good luck!

Help, Please!
I was reading an article about how we think we know the meaning of certain phrases, but they actually mean something else. I thought this was interesting as sometimes I use clichés, and sometimes get corrected on my use of them. Then I thought what other things are there that we feel we know well but actually are completely mistaken. What do we do when we realize we have no clue as to what is going on?
Fortunately, everyone in the world is different and has different talents. So when we are stuck we go to the internet and search for a solution, or ask a friend or ask that friend if they know someone, etc. The solution is always out there and help is available. That way if you feel that you have failed at something don’t worry, there is someone out there that can help. You just got to go looking.

Fun Toys of the Future Today
If you think the Segway is awesome, you’ll get a kick out of this. It’s a unicycle meant for easier mobility inside the office or at the home. You move it just by leaning in the direction that you want to go. With its’ high powered lithium battery and its’ low speed motor you can get around with ease and comfort. I’m not that big of a fan of the Segway, but think that this would be fun to have. Take some time to click on the link above and see for yourself.

Way to Go Windows
The other day I was watching some television when this commercial came on that I thought was really cute. This little girl comes on and talks about how she is going to use happy words with happy pictures and make a slide show. The commercial is for Windows new Operating System upgrade for Windows 7. When I first saw the commercial I thought wow, then way to go came to mind. It is a good marketing step for recognition (not that they really need it).
If you didn’t get a chance to see the commercial it is posted on YouTube. Even if you are a Mac person you will appreciate the effort that PC’s are putting into getting ready for the update. I have recently purchased a Toshiba and will be getting my Windows 7 upgrade in the mail somewhere around the October 22nd release date, which I am pretty excited for.

How to Make Life Easier
We all need something that will bring joy into our day. For me there are a great deal of things, and people, that make me happy. However, recently I purchased a laptop and it has made my life easier. Okay maybe easier isn’t the right word, but I have been able to do work, school work and searching at a much faster pace. No longer do I have to wait 10 minutes for the laptop to start-up, five minutes for applications to load or use my entire battery life connecting to the internet. How great is that?
Now, I know not everyone can afford a new laptop, but, in my opinion, it is something I recommend saving for. You don’t always have to buy new things to make your day. Find something that makes you happy and enjoy spending time with it, or them.

Memorandum for September 11
It is my hope that all of us have taken a moment to remember eight years ago where we were and how we felt. There are many that survived and many that did not survive the attacks of September 11, 2001. Every one of us can take from them a sense of love and endurance. We can appreciate the sacrifices they made and have a hope for a better future; a future of children growing to be like those brave men and women, a future full of freedom and liberty, and most importantly a future of hope, gratitude and perseverance.
We owe many thanks to those that have given their lives in service. May we always remember them and honor them.

Safety First
Everyday there is an announcement of a computer virus, or a hacker, taking over a network. It has made many people agitated, including myself. You go to a site that you always use and one day when you need to get some valuable information you can’t. Someone hacked the system and was scamming money from people, so the site host had to shut down the Web site before things got too bad. Isn’t that annoying?
What can you do to avoid getting caught by a scam? Some small steps to take are: don’t visit Web sites you are weary about, never give personal information through e-mails, or on unsecure sites and don’t open e-mails from unknown senders.
Take some time to see how you can keep your personal information, as well as your computer, safe and hacker free. If you aren’t sure where you should start visit Dolomite today.

How To...
The IRS has started to post videos on YouTube and iTunes. It’s not what you are thinking, though. They are How-To messages. This goes to show that no matter how long you have been around and no matter how boring you might be there is still hope. You can take a step out of your comfort zone and do something that will promote goods for those with needs. The videos include help for tax time, as well as a federal withholding calculator making sure you get the money you deserve.
I have recently watched some of the videos and wasn’t bored at all. The information located on their site is set-up into short segments, which to me is great. So if you are looking for some tax “breaks” or helpful tax tips take a look at the IRS YouTube channel or look on your iTunes store for their podcasts.

Is There a Limit
How far will technology be able to stretch before it can’t stretch anymore? What I mean by that is; how many more ways can we use technology until no new inventions can come? Or no new benefits can be made? After reading some articles on eweek.com, MSNBC and Microsoft I felt baffled by what people are doing with the latest technology. Eweek.com reported about American Airlines making internet service available to more of its aircrafts and Microsoft discussed how it was going to use smart homes to save consumers money on their electric bills.
Where do we go from here? There are a tremendous amount of good things out and available to the world but is it enough to keep the world turning? There seems to always be a need to update your computer or update the software and it will never end. There is no limit as to how far technology will stretch as long as there is no limit to the imagination of the human mind.
When all is said and done the question we ask ourselves should be, what can I add to improve upon the latest technology? We all have talents and if we share, like our parents taught us to, we can imagine beyond what has already been done and do more. The need for better, faster and smaller will never stop and so technology knows no bounds. So whether you have the farthest vertical network plan or the greatest money saving system or you just have an idea, get it out there and be a part of the expansion of technology.

The Online Marketing Guru
I would like to thank Mark Cenicola and Jeff Helvin from BannerView for their tremendously helpful presentation today. They gave a great seminar on how to effectively use blog and e-mail marketing. The two traded off sharing valuable information and giving practical examples and stories.
With ideas of integrating the blog in with the company web site, creating a company newsletter and doing all this on a consistent basis, I now have a bright hope for getting the word out. Time comes with all great things but steps will be made shortly to make some keen changes.
Again my thanks go out to Mark and Jeff and I recommend them, and BannerView, to anyone with concerns or questions about their online marketing.

If it ain't broke...
You have heard the phrase “If it isn’t broke, don’t fix it,” but everybody leaves the rest of it off; “be ready for the worst though.” There is going to be a time when what you don’t want broken gets broken. My trucks transmission wasn’t running as smooth as it should have been the other day so I took it in. Fortunately the truck is still under warranty and it didn’t cost me a dime. So I was ready for the worst and it paid off.
So take a moment to think of something that you don’t want to randomly quit on you and find the best way to get it protected in case hard times come. I promise you willl be grateful.

Remembering Our Past to Make Our Future
From a single thought and hours of hard labor comes years of perfecting and improving. With years behind us and years to come we can take a moment to see how much we have improved from the invention of computers to today’s mass production and usage. Through changes and improvements the computer has been brought to the world. These changes, as small as some were, have made the world a safer and all-around better place to live in.
So what does all of this mean to you and me? We, as individuals, can change the world. We can use past inventions and mold them into something better, something of worth, something that will enhance the future. We can remember what people have done and improve upon it. We, as individuals, can change the nation; can change the world, for those of the future.
Now you might say that you are not the best at all this computer stuff, but that does not matter. Being skilled at one thing is all it takes. Computers have only been around for a short time compared to the history of the world and people survived before the computer. Take pleasure in what you are good at, then find someone to help you in the things that you don’t do so well.
It’s time to express ourselves and make the world a better place.

Patience is a Virtue and Time is Money
It has been said that patience is a virtue but who can wait when it comes to computer work. All these companies out there promise you great service at an affordable price but what about customer service. No one seems to care about the people paying to keep their company moving. They only care about the money that those people have and not taking the time to consider the person behind that dollar.
That seems unreasonable and not logical. With Dolomite you not only get the computer service you want but you get the customer service you deserve. We take into consideration the position and knowledge of all our customers and help them any way we can, any time we can. To learn more about Dolomite and its award winning service visit our Web site at www.dolomitelv.com.

Dolomite Live on X Radio
Yesterday Matthew Hutchings, President of Dolomite, went on X Radio live with Alex Alexander to discuss who Dolomite is and answer questions regarding computer service and computer repair for the greater Las Vegas Valley.
After a brief introduction of Dolomite, its preventative security solutions, set monthly rate and other benefits, Matthew had his first caller. Dan, a small business owner, was wondering what the benefits are of having a Managed Service Provider (MSP). Matthew replied “the break-and-fix solution is too costly and too time consuming. You never know how long it will take to fix or what the final cost will be. With computer managed services you have the knowledge that your information is safe and secure; readily available if a problem does occur.”
The next call came from another small business owner who was worried about viruses getting into his network. He wanted to know what would be the best anti-virus software available for his computers. Matthew discussed the many well-known brands, AVG, Norton, McAfee, etc., which would be compliant with small and mid-sized businesses. He also informed the listeners that each brand has its differences dependent to the company and that all anti-virus software runs different for each computer and its operating system. This question sparked the interest of Mr. Alexander’s wife, who called in regarding her Mac and its virus protection, which didn’t detour Matthew as Dolomite works with Mac’s and PC’s.
The final caller, Jeff, asked what a root kit was and how do you know if your computer is being plagued by one. After answering all these questions, Matthew took some time to explain how Dolomite is your, the consumers, technology source for all of Las Vegas computer needs.
With many managed service plans available, anyone looking to secure their information and protect their computer can find a great service at an affordable price. Some of these plans include RAMP, a small business plan, and CHAP, for computer home assistance.

Having a Blast at the Expo
June 25, 2009 – Dolomite had the privilege of meeting with many companies at the Business Expo yesterday. With these companies we discussed business expansion possibilities, computer networking services, anti-virus protection plans, data recovery and data back-up services and more.
Not only did we give our “elevator pitch” to many but we had the opportunity to hear what many companies could offer us. We heard from vendors such as, Güd Füd advertising “the best thing that ever happened to a marshmallow” to Citibank informing others of many business growth possibilities that can begin with a loan from Citibank.
If you were unable to make it to this event don’t miss out anymore. Become informed on the conventions that Dolomite will be in attendance at http://www.dolomitelv.com/.
